GenCon Events and True Dungeon

Hey everyone who still reads this. GenCon event registration starts next sunday April 19. It's probably not that important to get in right away unless you want to get into a popular event. If you're planning on going to GenCon, it would be great if you could leave a comment below especially if you would like to do True Dungeon with us.

Speaking of True Dungeon, I will probably be trying to get tickets for that next Sunday and if you are available to help, let me know. I am currently under the assumption that a Saturday early afternoon slot would be best, but if you have any preferences or conflicts email me or drop a comment below.

GenCon Plans

With GenCon being less then two weeks away, I was wondering if we wanted to make any plans. I plan to be there on Wednesday night, and was wondering if we all wanted to meet for dinner or something. A place to catch up, and relax before plunging into the gaming.

I was also wondering if there were any events we were all going to. I know I am going to the dance thing Saturday night. And there was talk about True Dungeon. I posted on it, but not sure if anyone saw it. I would like to play if there is an open slot.

From 'Meows and Bows': At 12:30 pm yesterday, Amber and I got married. It was a small ceremony, just the parents and siblings, which is why we waited to tell y'all. I wish we could have had you all there, but we had a tiny budget, under $400. I hope y'all understand. We are planning a larger ceremony, but it will be at least two years in the future. But Amber is getting closer and closer to an official position with Humana. For those who hadn't heard, she has been Temping with them for 3 months. So we had to hurry the marriage so when she got a full position there I would be covered under her insurance

Video Games Live at Gencon

I was thinking about attending the Video Games Live concert Friday night at Gencon, and I was wondering if anyone else wanted to go. I was planning on getting the cheap seats (23$ for 2nd Mezzanine), but if other people wanted to sit somewhere else I might be willing to pay a little more.

I'd like to try to do the Harry Potter LARP this year which I believe is Friday afternoonish, and the Bard Contest is Friday at 7:00, so otherwise I'll schedule events around the run. Even if other people really want to do it during the LARP. :)

GenCon plans

Hey guys, sorry I been gone a while. Been sick. I will try to post on my blog tomorrow, but I need to make this fast while I am thinking of it.

I will make it to GenCon this year, barring something short of a catastrophe. I will have, at least, after driving, registration, and food in the neighborhood of $600 for a place to sleep and random stuff. I was wondering about how much hotel rooms are, and if anyone wants to split one.

True Dungeon: Final Call

OK, this is a last minute check to see who, besides the Tjarks family, is planning on running through True Dungeon this year. I'm not sure there is anyone since Doug and Tony are now not going to be able to make it, but if there is, this is your last chance to stake a claim on a spot. Otherwise, we'll just pick up a couple spot-fillers at Gencon.

Details: We have picked up the 7:36-9:36 slot, which is a Puzzle run. If you want to claim a spot, you should be there about fifteen minutes early so that we can make sure we have everyone and pass out tokens. If you want a spot, then decide at the con you won't be able to make it after all, please call us and let us know so we can pick someone up.

GenCon Stuff

First draft event schedules are up now at www.gencon.com.

Anyone planning on doing TD, we'll need to figure out some blocks of time when people are available, so go look to see what events you particularly want, and post when you think you'll be free. Also let us know if you've bought a badge or not so we know who's available to hit the system for tickets.

I'll be busy Thurs. and Fri. until 5:30ish, but I'm available otherwise. Please note that True Dungeon runs start at 10:00 AM and go every 12 minutes until 11:59 PM. There are no runs on Sunday. I believe our group is planning on going for the puzzle-oriented version, and I'd prefer a run that's not too late.

GenCon Volunteering

Anyone want to work in the True Dungeon tavern this GenCon? 16 hours of work gets you a free badge (and probably some other cool swag). Possible positions include retail bar/bag check, wandering NPC, True Arena supervisor, and door supervisor (collecting tickets/handstamping those entering the tavern). Let me know if you're interested, and I'll get you in touch with our resident tavern pixie to set you up as a volunteer.

Badge registration for GenCon has officially been announced for noon (Pacific) on February 11. Pre-reg cost, which will expire sometime in June, is $65.

Just a heads-up to all interested parties, since y'all complain that we don't tell you early enough. ;) GenCon 2007 will be August 16-19. More information as it becomes available, but look for badge pre-reg starting the first week in February and event pre-reg the second week in May.

Thursday Night at GenCon

Kalen and I were going to go over after our Tavern shift, so probably around 9/9:30, though it could be pushed back a bit if people are still busy. And if anyone wants to bring some kind of a card (or other easily portable) game, we could play while we eat or drink.

Mythbusters at GenCon

Hey, everyone. I know most of you all aren't on the GenCon boards, so I thought I'd announce this here. A new event has just been released for Saturday night at 6 pm - Mythbusters! Bust a Myth. It will be led by Kari, Tory, and Grant (the build team), who will bust a myth and then have a Q&A session. It overlaps with the KoDT live reading, but check it out if you're interested - I'm planning to go, and may just skip out on the Q&A early if it gets boring.

Don't forget everyone to register for your Live Reading ticket. I'm not saying it'll sell out or that you will have any problems if you don't register, but we all know how much GenCon people suck, and it is easier to just not have to worry about it. And it is free anyway, so there is no reason not to get one.

Hey, is anyone else from the group going to Gencon this year, other than the Tjarks clan? I suppose I can also count Amber #2 among the likely to go, but I'm just checking on other folks.

One of the big reasons I'm checking is so that we can flesh out teams for a couple of events - mainly for True Dungeon but also if there are other things people may want to do together.

I'm not planning on judging this year (though I may get swayed again later -- we'll see).

Hey, I wanted to let y'all know I have a game I am running on RPoL.net. It is called Devil's Dance Floor. It is a medevil game in a free form system. I am looking for players. I have one already. I will post the link here. It is a free site, so it is easy to join. The basic premise of it is like Crying Angel. It is a tavern and inn named Devil's Dance Floor renowned in the area for the musical talent and interesting patornage. Basically anything is allowed from basic fantasy elemants like elves, to your imagination.

OK, I'm going to put that out so that the local, or semi-local, contingent makes sure to deal with this. Stuffed COWS is the weekend after Thanksgiving - Friday through Sunday. That's November 25 through 27.

PREREGISTRATION ENDS on November 17 - That's this Thursday.

SO, those of you planning to go should pre-register by sending email to Brad, SOON.

I'm only pre-registering to play one thing - Spray of Blood in slot 5. That's APL 6 only, and I'm hoping you'll join me if you have a character that's level 4 through 8 (or one that should be be that time in the con).

I'm making myself available to judge all the other slots. If I'm released (and I probably will be in several of those slots), then I'll play what's available to play, with preference probably going to Legends of the Shining Jewel.

Okay, the module wasn't the best, but I always come for the skullduggery (meaning the hangingoutitude). I leveled up my character, which is a rare occurrence these days, and am happily on track to a prestige class. Woo!

Undercity zero

OK, Louis is confirmed to judge "Return to the Undercity" for us on Friday night at 7pm. I put down Matt, Kalen, Ryan and I as players, as I didn't know what Kathy wanted to do. I haven't gotten others yet, so so far there's still a slot for Kathy if she wants it.

I'm judging "Here There Be Dragons" for Louis, Duc, and Nicole on the following Saturday, Nov 12. Planning on APL 4.

And we're plannning "The Letter" for Saturday. I need to get in contact with Tony to see if he wants to join.

The Price of Power

To answer a question Matt had (on the phone this morning), "The Price of Power" is a sequel to "The Letter" (the first part is a year 3 core that I don't remember the title of).

So, I'm going to ask Louis if he'll run "Return to the Undercity" for us on Friday (and any other COWS judge looking for a zero for Stuffed COWS).

Then maybe Saturday I'd run "The Letter" for whoever: Matt, Kalen, Kathy, Ryan, Tony? Then everyone would be ready to play "The Price of Power" sometime later.
